Kultur i Väst is one of the cultural administrations of Region Västra Götaland. Our aim is to achieve a broad and inclusive cultural scene accessible and relevant to the inhabitants of Region Västra Götaland. The foundation of our work is to reinforce culture and its role in society. In order to achieve this, we are working together with various operators of the cultural sector on a regional, national, as well as international level. Our main collaboration partners are municipalities, organisations, associations, and other cultural operators.
At Kultur i Väst, we are working within all different fields of art, but also audience development, societal development, diversity, equality, and accessibility in arts and culture. A large part of our activities is focusing particularly on culture for children and young people. One of our most important goals is for more people to be able to partake of and participate in culture.
Around 80 advisors, producers, administrators, and communicators work at Kultur i Väst. We are making the cultural political visions become reality through knowledge, collaboration, and development. Our activities are financed through regional funds and various project grants.

Culture in Region Västra Götaland
Culture has a central role in Region Västra Götaland. This is apparent through goal-oriented ventures and the largest regional cultural budget in the country, as amount spent per inhabitant as well as monetarily speaking. Kultur i Väst is one of the cultural administrations of the region. We are often collaborating with Västarvet and the Cultural Affairs Unit.

There are numerous different means of support available to cultural performers in Västra Götaland. Around 1.5 billion Swedish kronor (SEK) are distributed annually.
